About

Physical therapy offers just the right combination for the active, caring scientist: the academic rigor of health sciences and the personal connection of working one on one to help others. Ranked second in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, our highly respected physical therapy program educates practitioners who lead the way in helping people of all ages to overcome movement, function, and mobility challenges.

We offer a superior entry-level professional physical therapy program. Our rigorous curriculum includes a comprehensive array of course offerings in musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, integumentary, cardiopulmonary, geriatric, and pediatric physical therapy.

Our clinical education program is integrated with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and its partner, the Centers for Rehab Services. We offer preferred placements in all settings, including acute care, pediatrics, geriatrics, short- and long-term rehabilitation, sports medicine, and orthopedics, as well as a variety of clinical specialties, including women’s health, industrial rehabilitation, comprehensive spine care, and facial nerve, balance, and vestibular disorders. The yearlong internship includes a monthly stipend.

Our graduates consistently achieve a near-perfect pass rate on licensing exams and enter the job market with significant internship and clinical experience that sets them apart from other applicants.

“Pitt provided me with fundamentals of understanding human and organizational dynamics. Good leadership skills fit with any organization.”
