Heather McHenry is a 2009 graduate of Saint Francis University's Physician Assistant program. After initially starting her career as a PA in the emergency department at Altoona Regional Medical Center, she moved to Pittsburgh, PA where she currently works as a cardiothoracic surgery PA at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. An important part of being a PA to McHenry is the ability to share her medical skills with those who do not have access. Her humanitarian efforts have landed her on 3 trips with Saint Francis Hugs United team; once to Honduras and twice to the Dominican Republic. Outside of teaming up with Hugs United she has also travelled to Kenya, the Amazon Region in Brazil, and most recently Thailand.
In addition to using her PA skills to help others she also loves to spend time with PA students teaching them the ins and outs of the profession. She is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh for their PA Department. She also serves as a preceptor to PA students from various PA programs around the area.
