Ryan Mayne Davies

Biography

Ryan Davies has built his career serving psychiatric patients in crisis and teaching others to practice medicine with compassion, respect and empathy. For six years at Lancaster County Behavioral Health, he worked as a crisis intervention counselor and police liaison, launching the co-responder program for the Lancaster City Police Department and responding alongside officers to people experiencing psychiatric emergencies. That work convinced him that patients respond to clinicians who meet them where they are, a conviction that now shapes his suicide prevention teaching for health care students, police officers, EMS providers and other audiences. He completed a residency in psychiatry at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center through Baylor College of Medicine, then served veterans as a psychiatric physician assistant with the Department of Veterans Affairs. As assistant professor and director of student success, he leads the program’s tutoring and academic coaching. A Pitt PA alumnus himself, he wants students to know they are never alone here, and that the faculty is 100% committed to their success.
