Academic Background: Rehabilitation Science
Full Job Title: Continuing Education Coordinator
Employer/Name of Company: University of Pittsburgh Dept. of Rehab Science & Technology
Graduation Year from MSRT: 2016

1. What was your educational/professional background before coming to MSRT program?

I was a graduate of Pitt’s Rehabilitation Science BS program. I had limited experience as an undergrad in the field of rehab and assistive technology.

2. How has your career progressed since you graduated from the MSRT program?

I now work in the department’s Continuing Education (CE) branch creating webinars for rehab professionals to view. This has allowed me to work in many different areas of rehab as well as to travel to conferences and other events in the field.

3. In your current employment, what are your duties and responsibilities?

Aside from recording and distributing webinars, I help plan the International Seating Symposium (ISS) and serve as the TA for the AT CERT course, which provides a baseline knowledge of assistive technology working professionals. This has helped me understand online education and improve my teaching skills.

4. Is there any information you would like to share, or any advice you would like to offer current and future MSRT students?

Aside from the opportunities offered to you by Pitt and your department/school, don’t be afraid to explore Pittsburgh both professionally and recreationally. The city has a lot to offer and you shouldn’t be afraid to enjoy yourself during your time here!
