Biography

August “Augie” Turano is the director of Data Migration and Management in the Veterans Administration (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO) and brings real world health informatics into the classroom. Current projects include: moving data from the VA VistA EHRM to the VA Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW), Oracle Health and the Azure cloud; moving data out of Oracle Health (data syndication) for operations, research and reports, and visualizations; and developing applications to support EHRM-IO and clinicians across the VA.

Turano is focused primarily on solution architecture, database technology, system performance, data mining, development tools, and establishing teams to solve complex problems. His current VA team works on all aspects of enterprise projects, including: storage, VM’s, containers, networking, databases, software, hardware and analytics. Turano is familiar with numerous modern computer languages, databases and big data environments that enable large IT projects.
