Mitch Bell’s passion for rehabilitation science and technology is deeply personal. Growing up with his own disabilities, he discovered the power of adaptation and the joy of finding the right device. His family’s love for building and inventing further fueled this interest, inspiring him to pursue a career in the field. Bell is a rehab innovation specialist at UPMC, where he leads Assist+, a program dedicated to advancing assistive technology for patients, staff and the community. This experience has solidified his belief in the importance of helping people find new solutions, and he’s excited to share his knowledge with future innovators. He aims to inspire students to think creatively and apply their skills to design new assistive devices. His goal as an instructor is to ignite a similar passion for learning, problem-solving and making a tangible difference in the lives of others.
