Doctor of Physical Therapy Student Service Board

The Pitt DPT Student Service Board (SSB) is a student leadership team that serves to support and advance meaningful community engagement experiences within the DPT program.

The SSB consists of an executive student leadership board which helps to connect classmates with community partners and promotes a culture of social responsibility. Current student-led, local community partners include:

  • Mighty Strong (Mighty Penguins) strength and conditioning program
  • Older Adult Chair Fitness Classes
  • Birmingham Free Clinic
  • and numerous adaptive sports programs including swimming, basketball and golf.

Hybrid DPT student leaders on the SSB work closely with the faculty Director of Community Engagement and help to oversee and expand the pool of unique community-engaged experiences for their hybrid DPT peers across the nation. Community engagement is an integral piece of the Pitt DPT curriculum and student leaders on the SSB are going above and beyond as change agents in the community.
