Pitt’s Counseling program has crossed a milestone! The Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program recently received its Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) Accreditation, demonstrating the program’s ability to fulfill standards set by the counseling profession to provide knowledge and skillsets to current and prospective students.
This reaccreditation spanned a two-year process, where the program was reviewed internally through a self-study, then externally through a site visit assessment.
“We are beyond thrilled to have obtained this reaccreditation,” Associate Professor and Program Director Michelle Schein said. “By maintaining our CACREP accreditation, students can be assured that we are continually working to provide the highest quality education and training.”
In maintaining this accreditation, Pitt’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program continues to ensure quality training and support for students and alumni throughout the development of their professional counseling careers. Throughout this process, the program is routinely assessing its data to ensure optimal success for students.
CACREP has evolved over the past several years. In 2017, it merged with the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE), which ultimately changed the program’s ability to maintain dual accreditations, resulting in the current Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.
