Laurie Cochenour is the Executive Director of the Office of Online Learning with responsibility for the partnerships with outside vendors, collaboration among departments within SHRS, and management of the OOL team. She has over 20 years of higher education experience in developing online programs from their inception.
As a member of the faculty in the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences in the Department of Allied Health at UNC - Chapel Hill, Cochenour was responsible for implementing an online Master’s degree program for Speech Language Pathologists in the public schools of NC and an online certificate program for professionals who serve young children with hearing loss and their families.
A native Pittsburgher, Cochenour grew up in Elizabeth Township. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a BS in Deaf Education and attended Lewis and Clark College, gaining a Master’s degree in Early Intervention with an emphasis in young children with hearing loss.
