Curriculum

With an emphasis on best practices and applying research, the integration of classroom and clinical education in Pitt’s Doctor of Audiology program is like no other.

Students participate in research projects mentored by expert faculty and benefit from a coordinator to guide your externship search. The curriculum at Pitt offers students extensive hands-on experiences with a focus on:

  • Prevention, diagnosis and treatment in hearing and balance across the lifespan
  • Interdisciplinary assessment and practice
  • Rehabilitation/management of hearing and balance disorders
  • Critical consumption of research

*Students must register for Pro Seminar (CSD 2060) for the fall and spring semesters of the first three (3) years of study. In the third year of the program, if your clinic schedule permits, audiology students will attend the Research Roundtable, organized by PhD students in the CSD program.

**Student will be enrolled in Audiology Clinic I until at least the spring of their first year, totaling 1 – 2 credits per term. Students will enroll in Audiology Clinic II beginning in their first summer and will be enrolled each semester until the start of their externship. Audiology Clinic II is at least two credits of clinic.

***Students register for 2 credits of research in this term even though they will still be completing projects in the spring term.
