Clinical Education

Technical Standards and Skills

The faculty have outlined the Technical Standards deemed essential for successful completion of the DPT curriculum. Students admitted to the DPT program must review the Technical Standards and submit a signed form at the time of matriculation.

What DPT Students Can Expect

Our clinical education program bridges classroom learning with real-world practice, offering students the opportunity to apply their knowledge across the continuum of care, patients with various health conditions and across the lifespan. Through these immersive experiences, students develop into competent, evidence-based clinicians ready to meet the demands of today’s health care environment.

  • On-campus students will complete the majority of their experiences in the Pittsburgh region
  • Hybrid students will complete their experiences in their home community
  • All students (hybrid and on-campus) are eligible to apply for a variety of highly competitive national opportunities that become available to the DPT program
  • Clinical education experiences include:

Research

Our clinical partners are also an integral part of research at the university. Research is conducted in therapy clinics across the health care spectrum and several of the therapists are involved as co-investigators. Additionally, several quality/outcomes studies are conducted throughout our clinical network.
