Creating new science that informs the future of health care.

At SHRS, we continually strive to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of patient care while controlling costs and enhancing the lives of all patient populations. We accomplish these goals through research and innovation

Most of our academics and research focus on identifying best practices and optimal solutions that improve the participation, function, mobility and independence of individuals with disabilities.

SHRS is also a leader among its peers in developing and translating new technologies. Our innovative work in applied research has revolutionized many areas of health care, including information and communication, activity monitoring, transportation, physiologic sensing and robotics.

We aim to accelerate the pace of innovation in rehabilitation to have even greater positive impact on the lives of people served by SHRS disciplines.
