Pitt Occupational Therapy Assistant Professor Angela Caldwell presented the Caroline Robinson Brayley Distinguished Lecture during the 2024 Fall OT Colloquium hosted virtually.

The University of Pittsburgh Fall Occupational Therapy (OT) Colloquium was held virtually on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. This engaging event attracted over 250 participants and was a huge success thanks to the outstanding presentations given by our new graduates of the online, post-professional Doctor of Clinical Science (CScD) in Occupational Therapy program.

The colloquium brought together professionals, students, alumni, researchers and community members from across the field of occupational therapy to discuss cutting-edge quality improvement projects. Assistant Professor Angela Caldwell gave the 2024 Caroline Robinson Brayley Distinguished Lecture titled “Activating Routines to Promote Health: Shaping Behavior One Step at a Time.”

The event also featured the following five enlightening presentations by our graduating CScD students, offering examples of implementation in action for occupational therapy services across the lifespan:

  • “Improving CLT Implementation Skills and Confidence in Practice: A Coaching Course” – Bethany Beckwith, OTR/L, CLT-LANA
  • “Promoting Inclusive Practices in Early Childhood Education: An Occupational Therapy-Led Quality Improvement Project” – Hillary Turner, MOT, OTR/L
  • “Enhancing a Student-Run Clinic: Leveraging Partner Insights to Uncover Strengths and Opportunities” – Benjamin Gross, MOT, OTR/L
  • “Embedding Interdisciplinary groups into the Autism Classroom” – Amanda Noble, MS, OTR/L
  • “Improving access to specialty care for children with medical complexity: The use of Project ECHO® as a force multiplier for rehabilitation professionals” – Krystal Vermillion, MOT, OTR/L

We are grateful to all our CScD graduates for their dedication and expertise, and we were thrilled to have such an engaged and enthusiastic audience.

Mark your calendar for the next Pitt OT Spring Colloquium on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. The event will feature the Joan C. Rogers Distinguished Lecture by Michelle Woodbury, professor at Clemson University, and presentations from our Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) students and CScD in Occupational Therapy students.
