Program Outcomes
This non-degree, non-certificate program offers students the opportunity to enroll in communication science coursework with the goal of meeting application requirements for speech-language pathology (SLP) or audiology (AuD) graduate programs.
This program allows students with undergraduate degrees in areas other than communication science and disorders (CSD) to enroll as a non-degree student in the department while students complete the necessary prerequisite courses for most CSD graduate programs. The prerequisite courses can be completed in one year (a fall-spring sequence) or spread out over two or more years.
It is the responsibility of each enrolled student to determine their future academic and career plans based on the requirements of each individual graduate program to which the student intends to apply. Students will receive academic advising. However, the academic plan is dependent on individual academic goals and previously completed coursework.
Common Paths
All post-baccalaureate students are coming to this program to prepare for graduate studies in speech-language pathology or other graduate programs in communication sciences. Many graduates go on for graduate school, and stay with Pitt SHRS.

Completion of the post-baccalaureate program or courses does not guarantee admission to any of the SHRS CSD graduate programs.
The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) does not have a contiguous post-baccalaureate to graduate degree program. An application is required for admission to any of the graduate programs.
