Mentorship Program

To support the rising demand for qualified health informatics (HI) professionals, the HI faculty at Pitt have developed a mentorship program that matches alumni of the Pitt Health Informatics undergraduate and graduate programs with current online or on-campus Master of Science in Health Informatics (MSHI) students.

The Pitt MSHI program is committed to cultivating well-rounded professionals. Our graduate program guides students to identify and achieve distinct career objectives, facilitates both personal and professional growth, and assists in building a strong professional network. Integrating esteemed alumni into the mentorship program helps foster a connection between the past and the future of health informatics.

We prioritize the development of essential, field-specific skills and knowledge. Our MSHI action plan includes setting clear benchmarks for student outcomes and mapping out the specific skills to be acquired. Through this holistic approach, we aim to produce graduates who are not only technically adept but also career-ready and networked in their field.

Some of the key initiatives include a focus on professional development, networking and alumni engagement to enhance students’ career growth.

This mentorship program is a unique opportunity for MSHI students to learn directly from our alumni working in the field, and for alumni to enhance their leadership skills and positively influence the next class of health informatics professionals.
