April 2018 - SHRS Recognition Day

SHRS will hold its own graduation (Recognition) ceremonies (undergraduate & graduate) on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Soldiers & Sailors, followed by a dessert reception after each ceremony in the Cathedral Commons. These ceremonies are for students that graduated in April 2018, June 2018 & August 2018 (August graduates also have the option of attending in December 2018).


  • Tickets were emailed to all students that RSVP'd to attend on April 11th.
  • These tickets must be printed out and given to your guests to bring with them on April 28th. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Do not print double sided.
  • We will NOT accept showing us tickets on your phone.
  • Do NOT duplicate these tickets. All seats are accounted for!

If you can no longer attend please email Kellie Beach at ASAP so the seating can be adjusted!

Please Note:

  • Due to fire code laws, NO guests over the age of 2 are permitted inside the hall without a ticket.
  • Guests age 2-years-old or younger must sit on a lap of another guest.
  • Graduating students do not require tickets.
  • Every guest must have a seat. No one will be permitted to stand in the aisles.
  • We will NOT have a waitlist for more tickets. 
  • If you are in need of extra tickets, please ask your fellow students for their unused printed tickets.
  • Seating is on a first-come first-serve basis. 

There is a wheelchair row in the back of the main auditorium. Seating in front of this row will be reserved for attendees with guests in wheelchairs.

Graduate Ceremony:

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. 

Students must be in the line-up area by 9:15 a.m. 

The ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end around 10:45 a.m. 

  • The Keynote Speaker for the graduate ceremony is Dr. Josie Badger, DHCE, CRC. Click here for more information on Dr. Badger.

A reception will follow at the Cathedral Commons until noon.

Undergraduate Ceremony:

Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. 

Students must be in the line-up area by 1:15 p.m. 

The ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. and end around 2:45 p.m

  • Keynote Speaker for the undergraduate ceremony is Dr. James J. Irrgang, PT, PhD, ATC, FAPTA. Click here for more information on Dr. Irrgang.

A reception will follow at the Cathedral Commons until 4 p.m.

Seats are on a first-come first-serve basis. Seats on the first floor are accessible for guests that cannot go up to the balcony seats. If you have any guests with physical disabilities, you may enter the hall via the ramp and the accessible entrance is located on the University Place side of the building (left side looking from Fifth Avenue). An Accessible Drop Off Area is also located on the University Place side of the building via the employee parking lot. Guests may be dropped off here but NO parking will be permitted in the employee parking lot. We will have staff there to assist.

Accessible bathrooms are located on the 3rd floor by taking the elevator.

April 2018 - University of Pittsburgh Commencement Convocation

The University will hold its own commencement convocation for the entire University of Pittsburgh campus at the Petersen Event Center. 

There will be a ceremony for graduate and professional students and one for undergraduate students that graduated in August & December 2017 and April & June 2018.

  • The annual Graduate Commencement Convocation will be held on Thursday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m.
  • The annual Undergraduate Commencement Convocation will be held on Sunday, April 29 at 1:00 p.m.

No tickets are required and guests are unlimited.
